The client
For more than 80 years, Wycliffe Bible Translators has helped people around the world translate the Bible into their own languages. Their goal is to see a Bible translation program in progress in every language still needing one by 2025.
The challenge
The letter in this package was first written in the acquisition package mailed in the Spring of 2014. The challenge set out in the Creative Brief was to test a different style of letter copy that would resonate with the prospects that would receive the mailing.
The solution
To meet the challenge, I opened the letter with a compelling story, which began like this: “When Pastor Pius Mbahlegue’s village in Cameroon was attacked by a mob from a rival village, he witnessed the transformative power of God’s Word in his own language.”
A well-crafted story provides a unique and deeply powerful way of drawing readers in, holding their attention and building empathy that motivates them to respond.
The results
The test letter in that mailing won and has yet to be . And since then, it has raised more than $XXXXX and acquired more than XXXX donors for Wycliffe Bible Translators.
