I wrote variable copy for this project to inspire various World Vision Canada child sponsor segments to share their sponsorship stories with friends. The direct mail package included a letter, pocket brochure, “pass it on” response piece, return envelope and outside envelope with teaser.
In these Tyndale University College & Seminary magazine articles, I relate to school supporters the impact of their gifts through stories of outstanding alumni and important research opportunities for students.
I worked with the OneBook charity leadership to develop donor-centred messaging for marketing materials and then prepare and conduct a two-day workshop for staff and volunteer writers on donor-centred writing.
As an avid cyclist, it was fun to write the copy for this microsite to support a mailing to middle and major donors that provided bikes for AIDS care givers in Zambia. Watch this VIDEO to learn more about the impact of this project in partnership with World Bicycle Relief.
It’s always gratifying to write emergency appeals that help non-profit organizations respond to the needs of people in distress. With a very quick turn-around, this letter raised more than $90,000 from a small group of donors.
In addition to copywriting, I led the project team to develop and create this 20-page catalogue for Partners International.
I provided copy for a five-year $500 million major donor campaign that included a 24-page brochure, appeal letter, e-blasts and video script.
In this appeal letter for Ambrose University College, I let the students do most of the talking to win hearts and gifts for the school’s bursary fund.
I enjoyed telling the compelling story of a local pastor who is providing help and hope for India’s “untouchables” in this direct mail appeal letter for OM Canada.
I love helping donors see how their gifts are making a difference in the lives of people — and stories are a great way to do that in your newsletter.
It’s always a fun challenge to boil down a big project and make it shine in a proposal for major donors.

“Mark is an excellent writer and editor. He has a flair for language, but also knows how to pull out the sharp red pencil to keep things concise. Beyond writing and editing, he was responsible for producing all of our online content and much of the execution for both online and print communications, including a significant portion of our design work. He does it all! Mark is personable, respectful and friendly too. I recommend him without hesitation and without reservation. A real pro.”
